The Northern Peninsula around Jaffna shows a different side of Sri Lanka entirely, shaped by Tamil, Hindu, Muslim, Portuguese, Dutch and British influences, with historic towns, colourful Hindu temples, lagoons and coastal landscapes rarely seen on a typical Sri Lanka itinerary.
The East Coast around Trincomalee and Batticaloa offers a quieter, more relaxed pace – vast paddy fields, pristine beaches, spectacular sunrises and traditional fishing communities, with clear waters ideal for travellers looking to escape the crowds.
Sri Lanka's South Coast offers a perfect blend of beautiful beaches, surfing, whale watching, wildlife, culture and relaxation.
